The Department of nutrition sciences aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge in nutrition and dietetics from the molecular level to an organism, from a diseased population to a healthy one. It provides opportunities for research and practical experience and clinical training to excel in professional life. This Department also looks for ways to ensure safe and healthy food utilization and supply for the well-being and prosperity of people.

The Department of Human Nutrition aims to better human health by:

  • Educating how nutrients present in the food will act at different levels of the human body and its impact on the well-being of humans by preventing diseases.
  • Conveying innovative research-based interventions and programs will affect the food choices of the whole community under target.
  • Providing knowledge-based nutrition advancements via training, research, and teaching.

Mission of Program:

The mission of the Department of nutrition sciences is to have a dietitian/ nutritionist with unique thinking, problem-solving and diagnostic capabilities, along with a strong moral and ethical background, to help this society by taking steps for optimum health. To have future dietitians with evidence-based knowledge to deal with all the prevailing issues to make this nation a “healthy nation.” This can be done only if a student of this program will efficiently design a plan for nutrition advice for inpatient, outpatient, and therapeutic diets via nutrition education or by imparting nutritional advice through lectures and seminars to serve the community.

  • The Objective of the BS (Nutrition Sciences) is to prepare Nutritionists who will:
    • Be the primary contact person for Nutrition care.
    • Serve as responsible members of the professional community and focuses on the role that nutrition plays in health, lifecycle, ageing and disease
    • Integrate theoretical and practical knowledge and should be creative and adaptive to different working environments.
    • Participate in continuous education for communities, patients, peers, students and others.

    • Play a pivotal role in the well-being and improvement of health status through their wealth of knowledge and expertise in diet and healthy nutrition.
