BS (Hons.) Speech and Language Pathology:

Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) is a vital health discipline for treating children and adults with communication and swallowing disorders. People who practice this discipline of speech and language therapy assess, diagnose and treat these disorders. It addresses speech and language in both pediatrics and geriatrics. Speech-language pathologists are trained to evaluate and treat people with speech and language disorders, patients with stroke, brain injury, nervous system and swallowing disorders.

The program aims to provide students with an educational experience that will prepare them for careers as leading speech and language pathology professionals. These professionals will be knowledgeable researchers committed to interprofessional collaboration and integrate reflection and critical thinking into their practices to help others achieve good communication and quality-of-life outcomes.

Scope:

SLP is a unique program with good job placement options in the government and private sectors. A speech and Language pathologist can work in hospitals, private clinical, individual services, Home health care, Care centers, and school related to speech delay. Speech-language pathologist work with a team of audiologists, rehabilitation centers, Physicians and the corporate sector. SLP can have the following settings;

  • Clinic
  • Rehabilitation centers
  • Special education centers
  • The corporate sectors have employees with speech problems
  • NGOs, WHO and the UN

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The minimum eligibility criteria for the BS(Hons.) speech and language program is FSC pre-medical/equivalence as determined by the Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC) with at least 50% marks.
  • Age 18-25 years
